Paul started out promoting clubs, owning bars, and becoming a world champion in mixed martial arts. However, during his fighting career, he saw how his good friend was mistreated by his real estate agent. This incident inspired him to get a real estate license so that he could ensure that others would never be taken advantage of in the same way.
Paul built his real estate business the same way: he treated his clients like people and not just sources of revenue. He served as their coach and motivator, was always in their corner and did whatever it took to see them win. The way he saw it, there was no losing. Even if Paul lost money, he saw it as a gain because he believes that people want to reciprocate when you give.
Paul accumulated expertise in a variety of areas, including title, lending, insurance, and real estate. In fact, he felt that he could not provide maximum value to his clients unless he was knowledgeable about all aspects of the business. That approach paid off: In his second year in business, Paul closed 76 deals. By his fourth year, he broke 100 deals. Last year Paul completed 136 transactions worth $62 million. Moreover, 97 per cent of those deals were repeating customers or referrals.
